We are well blessed with a wide range of active groups within our parish and by the number of parishioners who are able to share their God-given gifts. Such sharing may be through participation in one or more of these groups or by contributing to one of the many forms of Lay Ministry. Many members of our parish are involved with organisations, both religious and secular, which try to help people who are in need, locally, nationally and internationally. These range from supporting local food banks to schemes which aim to provide ways in which people in developing countries can support themselves and their families without the need for aid.
Becoming an altar server is an ideal way in which our young people can serve our church community and develop a greater understanding of, and respect for, the Mass and other services. Boys and girls who have made their First Communion are warmly invited to consider volunteering to assist Father Keiron in this service. If any young person would like to train as an altar server please contact Father Keiron.
The current group consists of eight writers who prepare the prayers of the faithful (bidding prayers) for Sunday and other feast days. The parish provides information to help writers format their prayers. Other ideas for expressing the needs and concerns of the parish are sourced from a variety of Catholic books and websites. The writers' group meets annually to share ideas and solve problems. We welcome new volunteers. Contact: Barbara Kelly Email: barpolo@aol.com
The choir at St Aidan’s church sings at the 11.00am mass. New members are always very welcome. Please contact Sandra Wilkinson (tel 01274 427262)
St Walburga’s: A faithful group of parishioners have cleaned the church for many years; more helpers, who are able to spare an hour or two during the week, are always needed. Please see Fr Keiron to volunteer.
St Aidan’s: Anyone who would be prepared to assist with occasional cleaning at St Aidan’s church please contact Joan Kaina.
Thanks to our Eucharistic Ministers we are able to distribute Holy Communion under both kinds at Sunday and weekday Masses. Eucharistic Ministers also take Holy Communion to sick or housebound parishioners. Eucharistic Ministers are commissioned annually at the parish Mass on the feast of Corpus Christi; to volunteer or to request Holy Communion at home for yourself or another, please contact Fr Keiron (tel 01274 583708)

Members of the Liturgy Group take a particular interest in the liturgical formation of the parish. The group meets at 7.45 on alternate Tuesday evenings to examine the readings of the Sunday Mass and to choose suitable hymns. Special care is taken to prepare the liturgies for the great feasts of Easter and Christmas. The Group has close contact with the Music Group which plays at the 9:15am Mass at St Walburga’s. We always welcome new members.
For more information please contact Nick Connor (01274 585773).

Proclaiming the Word, God’s message to his people, is an important ministry, and a service to the liturgy, the church and the community. We welcome new readers, especially those who have had some formal training or experience. Training will, however, be provided for novices. New readers would be particularly welcome at the 5.45pm Vigil Mass and the 11am Mass.

Stations Of The Cross
We adore thee, O Christ and we bless you: Because by thy holy cross thou hast redeemed the world.
We may have been condemned by others. We may have been hurt. We may be lonely. Let us give our pain to God.
We adore thee, O Christ and we bless you: Because by thy holy cross thou hast redeemed the world.
The cross we carry may be in the form of sin, illness, pain, despair, loneliness. As Jesus bore his cross, let us be patient with our own crosses.
We adore thee, O Christ and we bless you: Because by thy holy cross thou hast redeemed the world.
We give into temptation, falling into sin and moving away from God. Let us repent and ask Jesus for forgiveness.
We adore thee, O Christ and we bless you: Because by thy holy cross thou hast redeemed the world.
Let Mother Mary be our strength and our comfort as we ask her to intercede for us during our earthly journey.
We adore thee, O Christ and we bless you: Because by thy holy cross thou hast redeemed the world.
We thank Jesus, who, when our cross becomes too heavy to bear, sends someone into our lives to help us and give us hope.
We adore thee, O Christ and we bless you: Because by thy holy cross thou hast redeemed the world.
We pray for friends and family members who have comforted us during times of pain helping to restore our faith.
We adore thee, O Christ and we bless you: Because by thy holy cross thou hast redeemed the world.
After repenting our sins we often stumble and fall into sin once again. Let us surrender our hearts to God in true and lasting repentance.
We adore thee, O Christ and we bless you: Because by thy holy cross thou hast redeemed the world.
May we show compassion and mercy to all people, reaching out to them with open hearts.
We adore thee, O Christ and we bless you: Because by thy holy cross thou hast redeemed the world.
May God forgive us for falling into sin yet again We ask Jesus for the strength to fight temptation through fasting, prayer, and charity.
We adore thee, O Christ and we bless you: Because by thy holy cross thou hast redeemed the world.
We all have had moments of deep shame in our lives, things we would rather forget. Let us surrender these painful memories to Jesus, asking him to heal our wounded souls.
We adore thee, O Christ and we bless you: Because by thy holy cross thou hast redeemed the world.
Let our sins be nailed to the cross so we can begin a new life with Jesus, bearing our sorrows patiently and embracing life.
We adore thee, O Christ and we bless you: Because by thy holy cross thou hast redeemed the world.
May our sinful selves die on the cross with Jesus so that we may henceforth avoid temptation and refrain from sin.
We adore thee, O Christ and we bless you: Because by thy holy cross thou hast redeemed the world.
Jesus you are the source of our hope because you died for us and purchased our redemption.
We adore thee, O Christ and we bless you: Because by thy holy cross thou hast redeemed the world.
We embrace life with joy and ask God to grant us the grace of a peaceful death and the sure hope of eternal life.
