Many people assume that meditation only belongs to Eastern religious traditions. There is, however, a growing awareness that meditation has been practised within the Christian tradition from the beginnings of Christianity and is consistent with Christ’s teaching on prayer. The spiritual foundation of the World Community for Christian Meditation (WCCM) is the local meditation group which meets weekly in homes and parishes.
There is a local group which meets in our parish every alternate Wednesday at 7.30pm in the small chapel at St Walburga’s. During the meeting a short teaching relating to meditation or spiritual growth is shared by the facilitator. This is followed by a time of meditation which lasts for approx 20-25 minutes. All very welcome

This prayer group was started in 1995 in the UK after two mothers wanted to pray in a more committed way about the problems facing their children. It has since become a worldwide movement.
Following presentation of a short video about Mothers Prayers, produced by Café, there was interest in setting up small groups in the parish to pray for our children and grandchildren. All mothers and spiritual mothers are welcome.
A meeting to form groups is being held early in January. Watch this space!

The Tuesday Prayer group has come together over the years to fulfil the need for prayer, especially praying together.
We pray for many intentions before Our Lord, and through the intercession of Our Lady and the Saints. We pray for those who have written intentions in the Book (on the lectern outside the Sacristy) and for those who ask for our prayers. We also pray for our priest, for our families, our neighbours and friends; for the sick, the dying and those who have died; for our country and our World.....and much more.
If you would like to join us, we meet on the first Tuesday of the month after the 9.10 morning Mass in St Walburga’s Church. We move into the Lady Chapel after Mass for approx. thirty minutes. You will be most welcome!.

suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. †Amen.
